Meeting Thomas O'Brien

You can imagine our excitement at meeting Thomas O'Brien after a day spent ordering close to his entire line at the C and D building. We've already featured Thomas here, but how cool to attach a face with a light!

Thomas could not have been more charming or delightful; he was equally excited to meet us! "Oh my god," he exclaimed, "I was driving by, and I was like, is that Suffolk Designer Lighting?  'Cause I never knew exactly where it was! I'm coming to visit!"  Thomas, here is a map. . . we're like the Straits of Gibraltar to the Hamptons. You can't enter Southampton without passing us, and now we're holding you to it. Can anyone say Spring book signing?

We've carried his lights for a long time, and he's known about it. It was a little like meeting a facebook friend in real life; oddly thrilling, a little funny, and oh so High Point Market. People who say there's only furniture at the market forget that there are craftsmen and artisans and geniuses behind the objects we invest thousands of dollars in and bring into our homes.

Even a lamp begins somewhere, and meeting the men and women who create what they love for a living is a beautiful thing to those of us who admire craftsmanship in the modern age.
